These brooms are our absolute family favourite. While they are made mainly for decorative purposes or imaginative play, we have also been using them daily for years in our own home. They are a handy helper for lighter cleaning jobs, especially for reaching into tight corners—and they are simply beautiful to look at!
Founded in 1908, I.W. Hamel started manufacturing corn brooms in Waterloo, Ontario. He passed the business along to his son, who later sold it to a longtime employee, Nick Sadowsky, in 1969. As a young boy, John worked for Nick, gluing labels onto the broom handles after school. When Sadowsky was looking to retire in 1990, John purchased the business and moved it to St. Jacobs.
